Membership Terms and Conditions
About AAMB
The American Air Museum in Britain (AAMB) is a District of Columbia non-profit corporation with tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended. Certain financial and other reports and governance information can be found on our website.
The AAMB maintains its headquarters in the United States. The American Air Museum is located in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, England. The AAMB operates in collaboration with Imperial War Museums (IWM). All money received by the AAMB is restricted to general operations, and funding of specific projects at the American Air Museum. AAMB Membership is separate to IWM Membership. Any benefits provided to members of one organization are not reciprocal with nor do they constitute membership of the other organization.
Contact Information
By becoming a Member of the AAMB you agree to the AAMB using your contact information for all Membership purposes, including to process payments and manage your Membership and to provide you with Membership services. These purposes include notifying you (by mail, email, and/or phone) when there are changes to your Membership benefits, when your Membership is due for renewal and when there may be an issue with your provided method of payment. The AAMB will also keep in touch with you to share relevant news relating to Membership, events, services, and fundraising. We may contact lapsed and cancelled Members by email, mail, or phone. AAMB will use your personal information in accordance with data protection laws. We outsource some Membership functions, such as payment services. In such cases, we have processes in place regarding the safe processing of your personal data.

You can manage your communication preferences at any time by contacting our Membership Office. If lapsed or cancelled Members prefer not to be contacted for this purpose, they should unsubscribe by contacting our Membership Office.

Membership
As a non-profit organization, we rely on the support of the general public, including Member donations, so there is no upper limit on how much you can give to join and support the AAMB. We want you to support the AAMB at a level you feel comfortable with, but we do need to be able cover the cost of managing your Membership and contributing much needed funds to the work of the AAMB. We therefore do have a minimum joining amount for each Membership type, but you can choose to give as much as you like above the minimum level. The more you give, the more you can help us tell the stories that deserve to be heard.
AAMB offers two distinct Membership options:
- Annual membership: You can make a one-time contribution each year. The minimum contribution for Annual Membership is $35 per year. The Annual Membership period runs from July 1 – June 30. The renewal period is May 1 - June 30. If you join or renew after June 30 but before December 31, your Membership renewal will be included in the subsequent renewal period. If you join or renew after January 1 but before May 1, your Membership will be included in the following year's renewal period.
- Monthly membership (The Wings of Valor Society): You can contribute monthly to join our monthly donor program. The minimum monthly contribution for Wings of Valor Society Membership is $10 per month. Members will be charged on the 15th of every month (or on the Friday prior if the 15th falls on a weekend or federal holiday). This Membership is ongoing and will only be forfeited once you cancel or fail to make your recurring payments.
Changing membership type
If you opt to change your Membership from Annual to monthly (Wings of Valor Society), or Monthly (Wings of Valor Society) to Annual, the new Membership will take the place of your current Membership. You will not lose or invalidate any Member benefits you have already received from your current Membership, but any previous contributions made through your existing Membership are non transferable.
Eagle Squadron membership
Eagle Squadron Members may opt to give annually or monthly. To become a Member of the Eagle Squadron Heritage society, a donor must make a one-time donation $1,000 or more annually.
If a Monthly Member (Wings of Valor Society ) contributes a cumulative giving amount of $1,000 within a 12 month window, they may be elevated to Eagle Squadron status for a period of 12 months from the date of attaining Eagle Squadron status, but with a limited range of benefits.
Attaining Eagle Squadron benefits via donation
Full Eagle Squadron Membership benefits are available only to those who make a one-time contribution of $1,000 or more
If a donor attains this status through cumulative donations that meet or exceed the $1,000 threshold within a 12-month window, they will be listed as an Eagle Squadron Member in our newsletter and receive a subset of the benefits received by full Eagle Squadron Members.
Changes to membership pricing
AAMB reserves the right in its absolute discretion to change the minimum donation amount for each Membership level at any time.
We will communicate these changes to Members in advance by email, mail, and on our website. We reserve the right to offer limited discounts or incentives on Membership subscriptions from time to time. These offers will only be available to Members joining or renewing within the time frame specified.
Payment
When you choose to become a Member, you agree to authorize payment via our payment service. Contributions can be made by credit card or direct debit. If we are unable to process your payment method, you will be notified by phone, email, and/or mail and given an opportunity to update your payment method. If an error is made in the payment by our payment service, you are entitled to a full or partial refund of the amount paid.
Membership payments are final and are not subject to refund.
Membership benefits
AAMB Members will receive a range of benefits. Benefits may include premium gifts, such as caps, coffee tumblers, challenge coins, etc. Members who purchase an Annual Membership will be entitled to receive their Membership gift immediately upon activation of their Membership. Wings of Valor Society Members who contribute monthly will be eligible to receive their Membership gift only after making two consecutive monthly contributions. Membership cards can only be used by the named Member. Members will be required to present a valid Membership card for any benefit offer that is onsite at the AAMB and IWM Duxford.
We may, from time to time, review the range of benefits on offer to you and we reserve the right to make changes to them. We will communicate these changes to Members in advance by email, mail, and on our website.
Notwithstanding the benefits made available to Members by and at the discretion of the AAMB, a Member shall not have the status of, nor possess any legal rights or privileges as, a statutory member of AAMB under the Non-profit Corporation Act of 2010 of the District of Columbia, as may be amended from time to time, or otherwise.
Membership publications and materials
Unless otherwise stated, copyright and all other rights in all publications and materials supplied to you by the AAMB is owned by the AAMB and/or IWM. Members may not reproduce, transmit, distribute, sell, or commercially exploit these materials without the express prior written consent of the AAMB.
Cancellation
AAMB reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel your Membership if in its reasonable opinion you behave in a way that is considered to be harassing, causing distress or inconvenience to other Members, staff, trustees, or other supporters of the AAMB. The AAMB reserve the right to revoke your Membership at any time, without financial compensation, if you commit any breach of these terms.
Annual Membership
Cancellations of Membership Annual Membership cannot be refunded once paid. Annual Membership will expire at the end of the renewal period, if a Member chooses not to renew.
Monthly Membership (Wings of Valor Society)
If you are a Member of the Wings of Valor Society and fail to pay the monthly instalment due for your Membership or if your payment method does not process your monthly instalment, you will be notified by the AAMB by phone and/or email and given 10 business days to update your payment method. If your monthly instalment is still outstanding after 10 business days, your Wings of Valor Society Membership will be cancelled.
